Etruria 4

Oinochoe, a wine jug with the special trefoil-shaped mouth.
Such a robust simple form, I would really like to pour wine from it.

The dream has gone but the baby is real

Rita Tushingham and Murray Melvin

A Taste of Honey the first play by Shelagh Delaney written when she was 19 in 1960.

In 1961 Tony Richardson directed the film version with Rita Tushingham and Murray Melvin.

It is one of my favourite "kitchen sink" plays/films, another is look Back in Anger by John Osborne. This film A Taste of Honey however has it all, hardship, tenderness, sorrow, hope and making the impossible happen then having it all undone and all this in Black and White!

My favourite scene is the two of them leaping, in silhouette, up in the air calling out "We're unique!" under a railway arch. Gorgeous and so touching.

Morrisey is a big fan of Shelagh Delaney by the way, check out some of his album covers.

Cillian Murphy himself

Breakfast on Pluto

Just saw Breakfast on Pluto last night. It is a film by Neil Jordan based on the book of the same title by Patrick McCabe. They wrote the script together and it stars Cillian Murphy above. Stephen Rea, Gavin Friday, Bryan Ferry, Liam Neeson are also in the film. Cillian is gorgeous amd reminds me a bit of Candy Darling the most beautiful cross dresser ever!
I enjoyed the music from the 60's and 70's in the film most of all. Some real classics like Chirpy Chirpy Cheep! Robins play a part in the film also! It seemed to be driven by the score really.
Cheesy in filmic terms. Like the title actually!
I snuck a photo of Brian Jones in there as well.

Vernal Equinox - a time of balance

The balance of day and night, light and dark, freeflow and stillness, open and closed, warm and cold, yin and yang and all other dualities.
This is the time to find balance.
