A bothy is a shepherds cottage/shelter. We live in one.

Byre

This is a shelter for cows traditionally.

Hemmel

A hemmel with many arches. It is a shelter for farm animals.
We have a hemmel window now on the west wing, the Sunset Room with a view.
It is beautifully made by Paul Johnstone a local stonemason.

Mata Hari

I started listening to the biography of Mata Hari on the radio this morning and it is very interesting. I have always known of the name and the spy and execution aspect of her story BUT I knew nothing of her life. The book is being read every morning this week. Enjoy!
