White Rabbits

Getting ready to be on the road for July. Mainly to take In Person 30 Poets the dvd-book from Bloodaxe Books to festivals and events around the UK.
I enjoyed the garden today in the unusually warm temperature. Planting the pots of plants I still had around but the weather had been so cold and wet I just had not done it yet. Sibirian Iris, White Dicentra, Euphorbia, Cowslips and Ox-Eyed Daisies...
Plus I mulched the Tuscany Superb rose I planted last month.
At the moment lots of species roses are in bloom, the white jasmine, cranebill geraniums, honeysuckle climbing everywhere and it looks so wild and wonderful.
I napped with Fergus and enjoyed his steady breathing and smacking sounds. I think he dreams he is eating something very yummy! He is so affectionate and lies close and I cannot stop looking at him and his little red head!
I will miss all the darling adorable cats when I am away. Very much.

Rafael Nadal-what a smile!

T and T

These days are punctuated by sessions of tea and tennis. Marvellous afternoons!
Not one drop spilled either!
I am rooting for Rafa. Enjoying every game I see. Thinking of Elka my old tennis- watching buddy. In fact she turned me onto tennis in the days of Boris Becker! I miss her immensely and especially during Wimbledon.

Google

Google is a wonder. I have re-connected with old long lost friends and found new ones!
Though we are a huge planet with billions of people through google you can find those who may be part of "your tribe" and make a web of connection across the world. It is amazing. I just found the work of a Tara Bradford, a photographer, through a coincidence.
Thank you to those who have left comments. IT MEANS A LOT TO ME.
If you wish to correspond please indicate that and I will write back.
Now that google has become a verb that alone is an indication of how much it has had an effect on our culture and our ability to find out information for ourselves.
Google it just a little bit...
Had a strange dream last night. I was in a club in England somewhere but talking to this American girl about Johnny Thunders! In reality I have seen him play at Max's Kansas City but in the dream we were waiting for him to play at that club. I wanted to tell her that he was dead, but did not want to disappoint her.

Mortality

There is one thing we know for certain when we are born and that is that we shall die. Perhaps we are not fully conscious of what the state of death is or life either for that matter. But we do know change is on the agenda. Change is a constant. Transformation.
When I hear that people very dear to me have died I am unable to fully process what that even means. It is difficult to understand the concept of death. It feels like an absence, a big void, and yet the memories and the sensations are so vivid, so alive if you like.
This year alone several very beloved friends have taken another path, that of not being concrete and material, but more astral. The latest I heard of today was Nan Hoover. Earlier in the year it was Eugenia Perpetua Butler and Arturo Vivante. We were still in the process of our mutual dialogue, the ongoing conversation we have with our friends through life. These were definitely left unfinished.
Mortality is such a shocking concept and yet why should it be!? Every day is about life and death. Every moment. We are dying all of us, everything which is alive is also dying. The surprise of it however when it happens is so real. Death is unexpected even when it is. It is still hard to understand what it is and why and how.

Happy Summer!

I wish you all a beautiful lovely summer!
Enjoy every day, every breath, the wind in the trees, being outside, swimming as much as you can and feeling that delicious lightness when your gravity shifts in the water, smelling the cut grass, listening to all the different birdsong, crickets and buzzing insects, eating fresh fruit and vegetables, yummy!
Summer is so full of memories from childhood and they come over me like waves. Halcyon days of reading and bicycling, picnic-ing, picking berries, wandering around picking wildflowers for the house...
A Swedish Summer is to me quintessential.
Svensk sommartid.
Ha det bra!

Full Moon and Summer Solstice

For a while circumstances have kept me away from the computer and the internet in general.
Not necessarily a bad thing. In fact I found it quite liberating.
Not checking my e mail more than weekly, taking a break from blogging etc. It was a nice break.
Now I am back but less frequently and that feels just right.
Balance is what I am striving for.
Equinoxes and Solstices are about balance. Light and dark, day and night, seasons, growth, rest, dualities, yin and yang. Mainly however it is balance and it is delicate.
We depend upon a healthy balance. That is why we need to focus every day on the issues that we have to address regarding our home our terra firma. This is not just "our" planet but all living things.
I know I am stating the obvious, but I have found that when you get caught up in the daily carousel of living it is easy to forget. To forget about balance.
