Do I contradict myself?
Very well then I contradict myself,
( I am large, I contain multitudes).

Pelicans in Brooklyn on the Hawkesbury, NSW
On a voyage to Australia we visited the Hawkesbury River north of Sydney, NSW. It was a highlight of the trip. I enjoyed a swim in the warm brackish water, saw oysterbeds, colourful parakeets, wild turkeys and pelicans! In Brooklyn no less. A boattrip with a picnic before the tide turned in the fantastic company of two gorgeous individuals who live on the river. It was my favourite destination and I would happily return.
Emmett Williams
I just learned that Emmett Williams died on February 14th this year at 81 in Berlin. He was a Fluxus poet. I went to visit him in Berlin while I was an art student as I was doing research on Fluxus. It was quite an experience talking to him about all these people whom I admired like George Maciunas, Yoko Ono and his own work of course. FLUXUS is worth checking out if you don't already know about it.

Maud Morgan born today in 1903
Facing the Storm
Maud Morgan was one of the remarkable persons I met in my life (see Meetings with the Remarkable part 4). She died in 1999 and is buried in Cambridge, Mass. at Mount Auburn Cemetery, one of the most "naturally designed" beautiful parks I know!
She had the great gift of friendship and laughter.
Happy Birthday to...
Basil Bunting born today in 1900. His most well-known piece of writing is Briggflatts named after the Quaker Meeting House (above) where he was a friend and where he is buried. He lived nearby where I live now for a period of his life. Briggflatts is a lovely serene place to visit if you get a chance. It is near Sedburgh in Cumbria.
As a young man( see photo above) Bunting played chess with Franco on Tenerife when he was the governor there before the Spanish Civil War. I wonder who was the better player?

Stromboli
Stromboli the vulcanic island in the sea between Napoli and Sicilia is one of those islands like Hydra, Ibiza, Koh Tao, Orkney, Iona, etc. where the energy forces converge and creativity is at its peak. Ley Lines "cover" our globe in a grid and make connections between places, and where they cross the magnetic forces are the strongest. Stromboli is such a place.
I visited when I was pregnant and I know it was a powerful experience for us both.
The island is painfully beautiful and it is scary when you are up by the crater looking in! It is an active vulcano and spectacular to see.
On the journey of my river of life Stromboli was a vital stop.
The bl/wh is of Ingrid Bergman from the film Stromboli by Roberto Rossilini. A smouldering vulcanic film of passion if ever there was one!
